The opposition People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Chief Whip Gail Teixeira on Wednesday at a press conference continued to attack the National Assembly’s Speaker, Dr. Barton Scotland.

“We’re extraordinary disturbed by the Speaker’s process of decision making and reactions to the Opposition members…we find its belittling the way he speaks to our MP’s including the leader of the Opposition (Former President Bharrat Jagdeo).” Teixeira said.

The Opposition Chief Whip believes that her side of the house is not being given a fair chance by the Speaker to be present their arguments on matters up for discussion in Parliament.

“We are there at the beheads of the people of this country whether they voted for us or not…we will continue fight and we will continue in the parliamentary forum to fight for our rights to defend the constitution and to fight for what we believe is right for the Guyanese people” added the long serving PPP/C Member.

Teixeria believes Parliament is “not going well” while expressing her concern “at the direction which this parliament is going.”
