Wanted man kills cop

Late Tuesday afternoon Sergeant Linden La Rose was pronounced dead on arrival at the Matthews Ridge Hospital. He lost his life due to a stab to the neck after attempting to arrest an alleged rapist wanted by the Police Force in the North West District.

Two other ranks of the Guyana Police Force were also stabbed during the incident which occurred just around 17:30 hours while the ranks were about to arrest Dennis Marks.

According to a Police report, Marks attacked the ranks with a knife causing the death of Sergeant La Rose and causing injury to two other ranks to their chest and right hand, respectively.

Dennis Marks was subsequently shot by a rank to his right foot and treated at the hospital and was released into police custody.

The police rank who was stabbed to his chest has been admitted to the Matthews Ridge Hospital, while the other injured rank was treated and discharged.
