Two ambulances valuing $25M were this morning handed over to the Ministry of Public Health, further boosting the ministry’s capacity.

IMG_6277The ambulances were locally procured and is part of a project which was approved by the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) under the Turkish Cooperation Fund.

Subject Minister, Dr. George Norton, while expressing his appreciation, said the ambulances will assist with the improvement of emergency response.

He noted that “By extension, you are contributing towards the improvement of the delivery of Health Care Services in Guyana and for that I thank you.

The Ministry of Public Health welcomes all the support it can get, since keeping the nation healthy is not something we can do alone.”

The Minister elaborated that this requires the support of all relevant stakeholders and assistance from international donors.

According to the Public Health Ministry, one of the ambulances will be stationed at Skeldon and the other at a location yet to be decided.
