The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) closed the opening day of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)-sponsored GISE/Star Rentals/Trophy Stall first division cricket tournament against host Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) on 120-2, replying to GCC’s first innings total of 246.

Leon Andrews led the strong reply with 57. When bails were lifted Kevin Ramdeen and Damion Whitney were the unbeaten batsmen on 20 and 16 respectively.

Earlier a collective bowling effort from GDF helped restricted GCC in 68.2 overs after they were asked to bat first.

Ronaldo Ali Mohamed was again among the runs for the host, with a stylish 84, inclusive of 11 fours and a six.

Mohamed received valuable support from Matin Pestano-Bell 45, Deonarine Seegobin 28, Anthony Adams 27 and Devon Lord 25. Damian Waldron (3-28) and Andre O’Neil (3-44) were the chief destroyers for GDF. Andre Foster (2-18), Jeremiah Harris (1-67) and Ramdeen (1-48) were the other successful bowlers.
