Ex-cop shoots himself dead

An ex-officer of the Guyana Police Force Special Branch this morning shot himself dead at his Rosignol, West Coast Berbice home.

James Randolph Anderson, 79, of Rosignol West Coast Berbice, reportedly shot himself to the face at approximately 09:00hrs , after successfully persuading his male housemate to purchase something at the shop.

Neighbors reported to the police that shortly after the housemate left for the shop, they heard a loud explosion and when he returned, they informed him and he immediately went to check.

It was then that he found the man lying in a pool of blood. The police were immediately informed and investigators rushed to the scene.

Divisional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ian Amsterdam told News Room that the former policeman was a licensed firearm holder. He confirmed also that base on initial information they received, most of the close relatives of Anderson reside outside of Guyana.
