Guyana to observe Earth Hour with “Lights-off Concert” at National Park

On Saturday March 19, Guyana will join the rest of the world in observing Earth Hour and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and other partners are holding Guyana’s Earth Hour concert.

The concert titled “Lights-off” is scheduled to commence at 19:00hrs (7pm) and conclude at 21:30hrs (9:30pm) at the National Park (Thomas Lands entrance).

Attractions include Samba dancing, poetry, singing, Acoustic guitar, among others.

A presentation will be made by Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson.

Earth Hour is a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet, and is organized by WWF. Engaging a massive mainstream community on a broad range of environmental issues.

Earth Hour was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then it has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement.
