No initial security breach in GT E-Day voting

The top command within the Guyana Police Force ‘A’ Division by mid-afternoon today reported that no security breaches or hiccups were reported at any of the polling station within the division.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken who heads the ‘A’ Division, he along with his No.2 Sub Divisional Officer Anthony Vanderhyden paid routine visits to the polling stations within the division.

Hicken credited the tight security posture the Operation Dragnet which was launched last year and took into consideration several major events to be hosted by Guyana including the Local Government Elections and the Jubilee Celebration.

The Senior Police Officer admitted that based on reports which the Operations room received every 15 minutes as part of the Standard operating Procedures by ranks in the field, there was low voter turn-out to the time of this interview

He did however indicate that should the turn out increase later in the afternoon the police are well equipped to deal with the crowd, stressing that the force does not anticipate any security breaches either.
