President David Granger, this afternoon, presented two hampers to Centenarian, Mr. Charles Allicock of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, as he joined with him to celebrate his birthday.

Mr. Allicock, born on March 21, 1916, expressed a desire to meet the President and a letter was written to President Granger inviting him to join in the centenary birthday celebrations, which was organised by Mr. Allicock’s caretaker, Mrs. Bibi Fagu, and his neighbours.

A release from the Ministry of the Presidency said President Granger was pleased to spend this special time with Guyana’s latest centenarian even as he expressed his best wishes to him.

Mr. Allicock, who is a United States citizen, re-migrated to Guyana 16 years ago. He is the father of 19, grandfather of 40 and has numerous great grandchildren.

According to relatives, despite his age, Mr. Allicock is very sharp and can still see, hear and even read.
