SEVENTY- Eight year old Khublall Gomes of Grant 1851 Crabwood Creek Backlands, Corentyne was last evening found murdered in his hammock, with his neck strapped with a plastic cuff.

Police are of the view that the plastic cuff was placed around the man’s neck to prevent him from screaming.

According to information reaching News Room, Gomes who over the last two weeks has been living alone, since his reputed wife went to Suriname, was found with head injuries lying face up in his hammock.

The police have since reported that the man’s license 12 gauge shotgun is missing and based on added information this news site received, there are two males  in custody and are  being questioned by the police. They are said to be related to the man’s reputed wife.

Sources in Berbice have since indicated to News Room that the man recently wrote a will and transferred his house and land in the name of his son, who resides in the United States.

Gomes is married but his wife lives in the United States and sources said that he wanted to file for divorce, but the woman is not signing the papers so he decided to live with his now reputed wife.

However, after the man signed his house and land over to his son from his marriage, the reputed wife left the country and went to Suriname. She is said to have never traveled before and persons in the community related that she is now living with a son over there.

There are unconfirmed reports that the woman may have paid persons to harm her reputed husband after the transfer of the property to his son, as she was visibly upset after the deal and that forced her to leave the country for Suriname.

Residents in Crabwood Creek who spoke with News Room indicated that the reputed wife and the now deceased man worked together to build the house which is on the land, even though the property is in the name of the now deceased man.

The police are continuing their investigations into the matter.
