26 year old loses life on Johanna Cecelia Public Road after being hit by car

A 26 year old lost his life last night (March 28) after being struck by a motor car on the Johanna Cecelia Public Road, Essequibo.

Police say around  23:45hrs Lionel King of Maria’s Lodge, Essequibo Coast, was walking along the Public Road when he was struck down by a motor car that fled the scene.

King was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to the police, investigations led to the motor car being located at a residence at Good Hope, Essequibo Coast.

A man has also been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
