‘Max’ Persaud wins Heineken Golf Tournament

Permanand ‘Max’ Persaud emerged the winner of 2016 Heineken Golf Tournament, when the cream of the country’s top golfers gathered yesterday (April 9) at the Lusignan Golf Club, as Ansa McAl hosted the fourth installation of the prestigious event.

‘Max’, as he’s popularly known at the greens, finished the day with a Net score of 68 and a Gross of 87. Azar Shaw who also had a 68 Net score was second with a Gross 83.

Bryan Hackett’s Gross 89 and Net 69 saw him finishing third while pre-tournament favourite Avinash Persaud despite finishing with the day’s best Gross (75) failed to make it into the top three.

Brian Glasford was nearest to the pin while Richard Hanif shot the longest drive (315 yards) when the curtains came down on a day when the tournament was played under cool conditions at Guyana’s lone golfing facility.

Robert Hiscock, Heineken Brand Manager, said that Ansa McAl was more than please to host the tournament again this year and is looking forward to an even bigger event in 2017.

Hiscock applaud the Lusignan Golf Club for having what he described as Guyana’s best kept sporting facility, which he said was a testimony to the club’s seriousness about the sport.

Oncar Ramroop, President of the club, thanked Ansa Mcal for continuing their support. According to Ramroop, with the club celebrating its 50^th Anniversary this year, plans are in place to host the President’s Cup Golf Tournament which will coincide with Guyana’s Jubilee Celebration.
