BCCI confirms WICB $US41.97m debt write-off

The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) has announced the decision to abandon its claim to $US41.97m compensation from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) stemming from the 2014 abandoned tour of India.

The agreement officially brings to a close over a year of negotiations, which came about after the West Indies players took strike action over contractual issues midway its tour of India.

The WICB had established that a deal had been brokered between the two bodies earlier this year, with the BCCI now confirming the details of the arrangement.

In addition to the previously announced 2016 tour of the West Indies by India the regional team is

expected to finish the remaining matches of the abandoned tour in 2017.

“That is now sorted out because they are going to come back and play here next year. They have to complete those [unfinished] games. That was a claim raised by the board. [We] would be satisfied by them coming and playing here,” president of the BCCI Shashank Manohar told ESPNCricinfo.
