USA based triple jumper,  Troy Doris is at it again,  breaking Guyana’s triple jump record for the second time this year.

Doris set the new mark at 17. 18 metres on Saturday at the Clermont International meet, erasing the old mark he set earlier this year at 17.10 metres. The US-based athlete Doris has qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

His (Doris) time is second to current Olympic Champion Christian Taylor, who leads the world with a leap of 17.23 metres.

Meanwhile another one of Guyana’s athlete who will feature at the summer Olympics, Winston George, was in action at the same meet.

George opened his season with a new personal best in the men’s 200 metres clocking a time of 20. 53s which was three tenths of a second off the Olympic qualifying mark of 20.50s.  The quarter-miler also ran the 400m at the event clocking 46.24s.

In action as well on Saturday was Guyana’s third Olympic qualifier in Brenessa Thompson who ran brilliantly in the 100m heats,  clocking 11. 39s to make the final on Friday evening.  However,  in Saturday’s final Thompson had a bad race and clocked 11. 60s.

All three of the athletes are expected in Guyana on June 18 for the Aliann Pompey Invitational meet.
