A number of the decisions made by CARICOM heads require national implementation in the respective states and responsible ministers must have discussions and report to the heads.

This sentiment was expressed by Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit as he addressed criticisms with regards to the Community’s efficacy.

“We will ensure that our ministers avail themselves for consultations on those critical matters and of course what we have started to do, whether it’s functionaries or otherwise is to set the time-table and indicating for example ministers of ICT must meet before the end of September 2016 to consider the new vision for the single ICT space in the region,” the Prime Minister said.

In the same vein, Skerrit said member states must not attempt to “bite more than they could chew” since each country has its capacity limitations within the public services.

A review of the CARICOM Single Market Economy (CSME) free movement of labour, which is dubbed as the engine of the integration process will be undertaken, as well as a multimedia campaign to educate Caribbean nationals on its workings.
