    6-year-old Antonio George and 3-year-old Joshua George who perished in a fire at the Children’s Drop-in Centre at Hadfield Street, Georgetown at about 00:15 hours, Friday, July 08, 2016 was today laid to rest at Le Repentir Cemetary.

     

    Their funeral was held at the New Covenant Ministries located at Durban and Chapel Streets in Georgetown not far away from the home they resided in up to two days before their deaths.

     

    According to the boys’ mother, Sonia, she decided to hand her five children over to the state’s care because of the family’s present difficult circumstances. This was done on Wednesday, July 6.

     

    Sonia also told News Room that the family ended up moving to the Chapel Street house as their home was destroyed by fire two years earlier.

     

    Present at the boys’ funeral today were boys siblings who managed to escape the fire along with their grieving parents are relatives.

     

    Also present was Minister of Social Protection, Volda Lawrence.
