The Lucozade Indoor Hockey League resumed on Tuesday evening with two pulsating games at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue. The goalkeeper were kept busy all night as a total of 17 goals were scored.

In the opening game, GCC Pitbulls took on the Old Fort B team, and from very early, the Pitbulls made their intentions known.

At half-time, the Pitbulls had a 3-0 lead with Meshach Sargeant scoring two of those three goals in the third and 18th minutes, while Trevon Smith had opened the scoring. In the second half there was an onslaught of skill emanating from GCC as they added five more goals to their grand total, while Old Fort B added only two.

Shaquille Leung, Mark Sargeant and Meshach Sargeant all added goals in the 24th, 25th and 32nd minutes respectively. Old Fort B scored a 35th minute goal, but Meshach Sargeant responded one minute later with a goal of his own. In the final two minutes of play, Old Fort B and the Pitbulls each added a goal to their score, but it was the GCC squad that completely dominated that game.

The second match showcased the continued rivalry between GCC and Old Fort and it was exhilarating from the inception. Dwayne Scott of GCC scored a smashing goal in the second minute of play to let the opposing side know that they meant business.

Unmoved, Old Fort responded with a seventh minute goal of their own. Scott responded in the 11th minute with another goal, and just then the crowd saw fire in the eyes of the Old Fort team. Seconds before the close of the first half, Old Fort edged in another goal to level the scores at 2-2 at half-time.

When play resumed, Old Fort seemed as if they had a point to prove and apart from the exceptional goalkeeping abilities they managed to score three more goals, all field goals from Jason De Santos (32nd and 33rd minutes) and Omar Hopkinson (39th minute).

When the buzzer sounded the final tally was 5-2 in favour of the Old Fort squad. The competition will continue on Friday at the National Gymnasium, beginning at 17:00h.
