Born in Den-Amstel on the West Coast Demerara one hundred years ago, Agnis Iris Clarke on Thursday celebrated her birth anniversary in the company of Minister of Social Protection, Volda Lawrence, friends and relatives.

Iris Clarke, born on August 4, 1916 and the mother of twin girls and a son grew up in Wortmanville.

During her birthday celebration, the centenarian who still cooks and sews which she noted are hobbies from her young days, said she once worked at a shirt factory along Lombard Street.

She now enjoys her time with her 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren as she continues to teach them values she learned decades ago.

Her relatives say she has a warm personality and is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Now going by the name Agnis Iris Clark, the Centenarian was on Thursday surrounded by her very close relatives and friends who celebrated with her.

Mrs. Clark was the eldest of her other siblings and now she is the only survivor.
