Former Region 5 Prime Minister rep. charged for dangerous driving

Former Representative of the Prime Minister in Region 5 who was involved in a vehicular accident was found guilty of driving without a license, driving in a dangerous manner and breach of insurance.

Abel Seetaram of Woodley Park, West Coast Berbice, was on trial before Magistrate Rhondell Weaver at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court.

According to reliable sources, Seetaram has paid the fines and avoid any possible jail time.

On August 2, Seetaram’s case was called, however, he was not present in court and was sentenced in his absence. On the charge of dangerous driving, he was fined $30,000 or spend 32 days in jail, for being an unlicensed driver, Seetaram was fined $25,000 or spend 21 days in jail and as it relates to the breach of insurance, he was fined $15,000 or 21 days in jail.

According to the prosecution on May 8, the former Prime Minister representative was driving a government SUV along the Bath Public Road at a fast rate, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a nearby fence, uprooting some electrical poles and damaging several stalls at the Bath Market

It was after the accident that the Prime Minister dismissed Seetaram as a representative of his office in Region Five.
