The search is on for a new Regional Executive Officer (REO) for the Region six Democratic Council as Alliance for Change (AFC) member, Dr. Veerasammy Ramayya resigns.

The Ministry of Communities on Tuesday announced that Dr. Ramayya tendered his resignation on August 10, 2016, to Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan. His resignation becomes effective on September 15, 2016.

During his short stint as REO, Dr. Ramayya came under fire from Councillors for not performing his duties as required and making rash decisions. He was also accused of being absent frequently from work and rarely performing his duties.

However, the Ministry stated that “although his tenure at the region was short-lived, it has been a remarkable one.”

The statement added that no effort will be spared to ensure the region is provided with a replacement with the administrative skill to deliver the effective leadership to the region.

It also disclosed that three prospective candidates have since been shortlisted and the process of selection will commence shortly.
