    Guyana’s badminton team at the Caribbean Badminton Championship (CAREBACO) in Aruba has booked a place in today’s final of the Team event at the Centro Deportivo Sports Hall.

     

    The Guyanese quartet of Narayan Ramdhani, Jonathon Mangra, Priyanna Ramdhani and Ambika Ramraj defeated their counterparts from neighbouring Suriname in the semi-final last evening. They will now face the Dominican Republic in today’s final.

     

    Chalking up with wins for Guyana against Suriname were Jonathon Mangra in the Boys Singles; Narayan Ramdhani and Mangra in the Boys Doubles; and Narayan Ramdhani and Priyanna Ramdhani in the Mixed Doubles.

     

    In the Boys Singles, Mangra got the better of Denny Chen 21-15, 21-16; N. Ramdhani and Mangra defeated Jascha Atmodikromo and Denny Chen 21-9, 21-17 in the Boys Doubles; and the Ramdhani siblings got the better of Atmodikromo and Imani Mangroe 21-7, 21-4 in the Mixed Doubles.

     

    In the Girls Singles, P. Ramdhani lost to Shemara Lindveld 21-11, 21-19. In the individual segment of the championship last week, Guyana won six medals- four silver and two bronze.
