PNCR passes motion to establish Resource Centre

During the first full day of  its’ 19^th Biennial Congress, the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) has passed a motion for the establishment of a resource centre for the preservation of works by former and future leaders of the political party.

In a statement, the party disclosed that 625 delegates and 275 Observers from 140 groups were in attendance at today’s meeting being hosted at the Party’s Headquarters, Congress Place, Sophia.

During the first session which was chaired by Party Vice Chairman, Dr. George Norton, a moment of silence was observed in remembrance of Party members who died over the last biennium followed by the General Secretary’s report delivered by Mr. Oscar Clarke, CCH.

The General Secretary informed Congress on the state of the PNCR, the work of the Party’s Secretariat and the major activities during the review period.

Addressing the signing of the Cummingsburg Accord on the 14^th February 2015 between A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the Alliance For Change (AFC), the General Secretary said “our decision was a correct one and indeed is the correct one for the future of our Party and….. in-spite of our differences our coalition administration have begun to work together to solve the myriad problems which we inherited…”

The General Secretary informed the Congress about plans for the 60^th anniversary of the PNCR on the 5^th October 2017. It was announced that a Special Congress would be the center- piece of the celebrations along with other activities at the central and regional level.

There was a plenary during the second period of the morning session chaired by Party Chairman, Mr. Basil Williams.

The plenary examined the Chairman’s welcome address, the Party Leader’s address and the General Secretary’s report.

The afternoon session of Congress was chaired by member of the Central Executive Committee, Mr. James Bond which examined Questions and Motions and Resolutions submitted by local and overseas groups of the Party.
