The Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) today concluded its 19th Biennial Congress with the election of delegates to serve the party’s top position for the next two years.

A total of Four hundred and fifty-five (455) votes were cast which saw five spoiled votes, the party said in a statement.

While the position for Leader of the party was unopposed leaving the current Head of State, David Granger in that post, persons serving in the other top posts were successful in capturing the votes of the other delegates to remain.

Despite the ongoing controversy including Dr. George Norton over a deal signed by his Ministry (Ministry of Public Health) with Linden Holdings Inc. for the rental of a storage bond, the Minister was able to return to his post of Co-Vice Chair. He received 227 votes.

Also returning to serve alongside him is Volda Lawrence who is the current Minster of Social Protection with 393 votes.

Other contestants for the two posts of Vice Chair were James Bond who received 148 votes and Clement Corlette who gained only 8 votes.

Attorney General, Basil Williams remains as Chairman of the party while Minister of Communities, Ronald Bulkan is the party’s Treasurer. Both officers ran unopposed.

15 other persons are to be elected to the Central Executive of which Fifty-five persons contested.

These elections were carried out in a very orderly and transparent manner, the party said. According to the party’s Returning Officer, Mr. Michael Somersall, himself and team received no complaints.

The Party Officers were installed by the Immediate Past Leader of the PNCR, Mr. Robert Corbin, CCH.

In his charge to the Congress, Party Leader, Brigadier David Granger said that the PNCR must show leadership to the Partnership (APNU), stewardship, fellowship and Statesmanship.

“From top to bottom the coalition must be on its best behaviour” he charged.
