National Assembly approves $17.9M to pay Hugh Wooding for students’ tuition fees

Even as the University of Guyana and the Hugh Wooding Law School are in negotiations for a new automatic entry agreement for 25 Guyanese students, 17.9 million dollars will be paid to the Law school to cover 25 percent of the economic cost of the fees to be paid by the Guyanese students.

This was disclosed by Attorney General Basil Williams, who noted that the money will cover the academic year 2016-2018 and was approved by the National Assembly.

The negotiations between UG and Hugh Wooding surrounds the automatic entry of 25 Guyanese students, as well as ten non-Guyanese Bachelor of law graduates. The last agreement ended in 2013.

The Attorney General is expected to attend the 48th Meeting of the Council of Legal Education in Antigua, where he will raise the issue of a new automatic entry agreement for Guyanese students.
