The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) yesterday presented Bursary Awards to nine pupils who were successful at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).

At the simple ceremony Mr Harvey Tambron, Branch Manager Of GAWU, New Amsterdam said, “ the award is to provide greater encouragement for you pupils to continue with your studies and schooling and to be successful in your future exams”.

The Union, Tambron said, is encouraging parents to provide the support needed for their children to excel in their studies.

Teachers were also urged to do the same and were commended for the success garnered.

It was pointed out that, “our union notes that there is no age limit to learning and even at the level if our union members we are also fostering educational work for improving members”.

Those awarded were Manesh Ramroop and Shelby Moniapen of Skeldon Estate, Anthony Umrao, Geneva Hitnarine, Saeed Mohamed and Malika Gansawh of Albion Estate, Simron Ramsahai and Sonie Karan of Blairmont Estate and Crystal Mc Pherson of Berbice Bridge Company Incorporated.

Meanwhile, the pupils expressed their gratitude for the awards and promised to continue walking the path of success.
