Every second Friday within the month of September is designated Education Day. This announcement was made today at the Ministry of Education’s Education Rally by Head of State, David Granger.

The President  said an ‘A’ student is one who attends school regularly and attains the highest level of education and urged each student to become one.

The Guyanese leader  urged the male students to show respect for every female, referencing the African proverb which states that “if you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation.”

He reminded that in accordance with the Constitution of Guyana, Education is an entitlement and pledged his government’s commitment to ensuring that students have access to well-equipped schools all across Guyana.

Meantime, Education minister, Dr. Rupert Roopnarine during his address to the large gathering at the D’Urban Park noted that the teachers play a pivotal role in ensuring that they bring out what is within a child and nurture what is already there.
