    Kassim Khan was the star of the show on Saturday when action continued in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Jaguars Franchise Cricket League Three-day cricket.

     

    Khan followed up his first innings 5-37 with 7-25 for match figures of 12-62 as points leaders Lower Corentyne defeated Upper Demerara/East Bank Demerara by an innings and 38 run at the Lusignan Community Centre ground.

     

    Below are the summarised scores from the games.

     

    Lower Corentyne, resuming on their overnight score of 227-7, went on to make 339 with Devon Clements finishing on 92 not out (7x4s, 6x6s). Seon Hetmyer adding 20 to his overnight score of 51 before he was dismissed for 71. Bowling for East Bank Demerara, Steven Jacobs had 3-59, Ryan Shun took 2-16 and Sherfane Rutherford claimed 2-31.

     

    East Bank Demerara, in their second innings, facing a deficit of 234, could only make 196 with Rutherford smashing a blistering 106 (6×4, 10x6s). Danny Narayan was again among the runs, contributing 33. Kassim Khan followed up his first innings 5-37 with 7-25 to finish with match figures of 12-62. He now has 33 after four matches. Jonathan Foo had 2-30.

     

    Result: Lower Corentyne won the match by an innings and 38 runs

    At Enterprise, East Coast Demerara, resuming on their overnight score of 294-6, went on to make 346 all out. Amir Khan only added five to his overnight score of 39. Vivian Albert made 21.

     

    Bowling for West Berbice, Collis Butts claimed 6-98 in his first match of the competition, while Andre Dutchin took 2-72.

     

    In reply, West Berbice could only get to 160 before they were dismissed. Sherwin McPherson top scored with 39, while Leon Andrews supported with 28. Paul Wintz was the pick of the bowlers for East Coast Demerara with 4-27, while Chandrapaul Hemraj had 2-22.

     

    West Berbice, in their second innings after being asked to follow on, will start the final day on 9-0. 

     

    At Bourda, play was called off without a ball being ball for the second consecutive day in the match between Georgetown and Essequibo.

     

    At Tuschen, play was called off without a ball being ball for the second consecutive day in the match between West Demerara and Upper Corentyne.
