Duncan’s show at Indigenous Heritage Archery competition

Sean Duncan, Samira Duncan and Aliyah Gordon emerged champions of their respective category when the curtains came down on the Archery competition at the Indigenous Heritage Games on Sunday at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

Sean Duncan won the Men’s Senior division with 57 points, followed by Anand Mangra with 54 and Eric Hing on 30. Samira Duncan was the leading archer in the Women’s Senior category, accumulating 27 points to finish ahead of Shearlyn Duncan (20) and Narda Mohamed (18).

Gordon took top honours in the Junior division with 11 points. Shamara Duncan (7) and Garville Daniels (3) were second and third respectively.

The presentation of trophies to the top performers was made by GSSF/Archery Guyana Chair, Nicholas Hing.  The finals were deemed a success as the competitors were required to shoot two ends of six arrows, totalling 12 arrows from 20 metres.

At the close of the finals, the Honourable Minister of Health, George Norton, demonstrated his skill to the crowd after a brief tutorial from Hing.
