    The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) has completed several activities to mark the town’s 46th Anniversary today, with the feeding of a number of less fortunate persons in the township of Rose Hall.

    The RHTY&SC also launched a 40 page magazine and honoured several senior citizens.

     

    The magazines which were distributed to the gathering are aimed at promoting Rose Hall Town, its’ residents and the contribution they have made towards the township. It also highlights the historic sites located in various parts of the town.

     

    The coordinator of the Rose Hall Town Week activities and president of the RHTY&SC Hilbert Foster today noted that he is very proud to be able to document the history of the town although it is the smallest town in Guyana.

    “We have created history today, this is the first time that any township in Guyana has documented its history and we are the smallest town in Guyana, this would not have been possible if we did not get the corporation of Scotiabank despite they do not have a branch here in Rose Hall Town” he added.

     

    Scotiabank also spent close to $1M to sponsor several other activities in the township and according to the representative of Scotiabank Jennifer Cipriani, the bank have a long history with the RHTY&SC and therefore is looking forward to continue working together to shape positive future for youths and people of Rose Hall Town.

    Cipriani said ” based on what I have read in the newspaper, Rose Hall has a rich history on which to its future. There are calls for this town to play a greater role in the economic and social development of Berbice and Scotiabank would be happy to continue working with the RHTY&SC and the administration to achieve this goal.”

     

    During the presentation to the senior citizens, each received a hamper with food items compliments of the Minister of Social Protection Volda Lawrence who was unable to make an appearance at the event.

     

    To end the day’s activities, over one hundred less fortunate persons will be provided with dinner.

     

    Rose Hall Town Week Celebrations commenced on September 14, 2016, and will run until September 30, 2016.

     

    The Town Week activities and celebration will be held at various locations within the town under the theme “Proud of our past, optimistic about our future”.
