The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry with support from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is implementing a three- year, $260,195 US project expected to build the capacity of entrepreneurs in the music, art and craft and agro-processing industries.

Project coordinator, Deslyn Griffith, today said the objective is to contribute to increased productivity, profitability and competitiveness.

She noted that “in order for your business to succeed you got to do market research, you have to understand who your competitors are and why they are doing what they are doing.”

Griffith explained that those entrepreneurs that express an interest go through a screening process “so we get a feel of whether the individual is at a place of start-up and where we can take them.”

Successful entrepreneurs are to benefit from effective marketing strategies and will gain assistance to develop an export development plan so that products of internationally recognized standards could be produced.

Beneficiaries will not be given cash; instead focus would be placed on capacity building.

This project will conclude in March, 2017.
