Leading local and overseas softball teams will converge in Guyana on the weekend of November 4-6 when the sixth annual Guyana Softball Cup is staged in the country.

Dubbed the largest softball tournament in the Guyana and possibly the Caribbean, the three-day competition is once again expected to pit the best against the best, competing in the Open and Masters categories.

Once again the event is being organised by the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFCSCA), and its Vice-president Ricky Deonarain told News Room on Wednesday that all systems are currently being streamlined to ensure another successful three days of softball cricket.

Deonarain pointed out that the GFSCA is presently in talks with key partners, including sponsors and team officials, bringing them up to speed with plans for the 2016 tournament.

An average of 24 teams from Guyana and North America are being targeted to compete in the tournament.

As has been the case in the previous five editions of the competition, the ‘finals day’ will be the showpiece with a grand day of softball cricket and family entertainment, starting at 11:00h and concluding under floodlights, at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, Queenstown.

Apart from the competitive and exciting on-field action, there will be a hive of activities beyond the boundary with patrons set to win a plethora of prizes, including tickets to various destinations across Guyana, and hampers. There will also be several giveaways by the various sponsors.

Regal XI and Regal Masters are the reigning champions of the Open and Masters categories respectively.
