    By Avenash Ramzan

Lusignan Sports Club opening batsman Steve Ramdass has enjoyed success with bat and ball on his overseas stint in Trinidad and Tobago and Canada.

The former Demerara Under-19 player campaigned in Trinidad and Tobago’s Premiership One Cricket, competing against the likes of West Indies players Darren Bravo, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Shannon Gabriel.

The right-hander stroked a fine 107 not out for Jenexcon Tableland against Prison Sports Club, and totalled 288 runs in six innings at an average of 48. He also collected 11 wickets with his right-arm off-spin.

Playing for Vikings Cricket Club in the Toronto League in Canada, Ramdass amassed 482 runs in 15 50-over games, inclusive of four fifties, the highest of which was 79. He ended the season with an average of 32.10.

He also snapped up 17 wickets with a best of 4-12. Reflecting on his performance, Ramdass said while he is generally satisfied, he is a bit disappointed that he didn’t convert his many half-centuries into hundreds.

He pointed out that aim now is to be selected for one of the franchises in the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board’s Jaguars Franchise League 50-over competition, as well as break into the Guyana Jaguars’ Academy set-up.

Ramdass was selected to play in the East Coast Demerara franchise for the ongoing Three-day Jaguars Franchise League tournament, but had to opt out owing to contractual obligations overseas.
