West Indies dominated day one of their two-day warm-up game against the Emirates Cricket Board XI on Monday.

After fifties from Leon Johnson and Shai Hope helped the Windies declare at 249-6 in 70 overs, Jonathon Carter and Miguel Cummins ripped through the hosts batting, leaving them in tatters at 56-7 at stumps.

It represents a recovery of sorts after they were reduced to 20-7. Carter has 4-20 and Cummins 3-12. Earlier, captain Johnson, opening the batting, retired out for an even fifty, while Hope, batting at number three, topscored with 59.

Several other batsmen also got useful contributions. Jermaine Blackwood made 45, Roston Chase 38, Shane Dowrich 24 and Carter 22 not out.

The game is one of two warm-ups for the West Indies ahead of their three-match Test series against Pakistan, starting October 13 in Dubai.
