Guyanese trio among the runs for West Indies A

West Indies A piled up 331-5 by stumps on day one of the second unofficial ‘Test’ against Sri Lanka A at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

While wicketkeeper Jahmar Hamilton fell agonisingly short of a hundred, being run out for 99, the Guyanese trio- Vishaul Singh, Rajendra Chandrika and Shimron Hetmyer- were also among the runs as the Windies capitalised on good batting conditions.

Hamilton’s knock spanned 141 balls and included 15 fours. The left-handed Singh, who topscored in both innings of the first ‘Test’ loss with 96 and 46, closed the day unbeaten on 81. Singh, who has far faced 165 deliveries and found the boundary nine times, added 188 for the fourth wicket with Hamilton.

Opener Chandrika retired hurt on 51, while Hetmyer, batting at number three, scored 48. Opener Kieron Powell chipped in with 29.

Sri Lanka A lead the three-match series 1-0.
