Singh (161), Chandrika (84) put West Indies A in control

Vishaul Singh’s fifth First-Class hundred, a masterful career-best 161, powered West Indies A to a commanding position at stumps on day two of the second unofficial ‘Test’ against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

West Indies A, resuming on 331-5, eventually declared on 509-9 at the fall of Singh’s wicket in the 138^th over. Singh, the diminutive Guyanese left-hander, faced 306 deliveries and struck 16 fours.

On the first day, Jahmar Hamilton made 99, while Test batsman Rajendra Chandrika, who retired hurt on 51 on the opening day, returned to bat on day two, making 84.

Kemar Roach also contributed 39, while West Indies Under-19 captain, Shimron Hetmyer, made 48. Sri Lanka A, who led the three-match series 1-0, closed the day on 128-4, 381 runs in arrears.

Guyana’s fast bowler Keon Joseph has so far claimed 2-4, while the in-form opener Dimuth Karunaratne is unbeaten on 66.
