West Indies Under-19 captain Shimron Hetmyer narrowly missed out on a hundred, but Sri Lanka A were slightly ahead at stumps on day two of the third unofficial ‘Test’ against West Indies A in Dambulla.

Hetmyer, the 19-year-old Guyanese left-hander, batting at number three, struck 94 off 93 balls as West Indies A closed the day on 183-4 in response to Sri Lanka A’s 318.

After the loss of openers Rajendra Chandrika (11) and Kieron Powell (8) early, Hetmyer and skipper Shamarh Brooks added 104 for the third wicket, with Brooks closing the day on 43. Vishual Singh was the other batsman to be dismissed, just before the close for 15.

Earlier, Delorn Johnson claimed 4-65, Rakheem Cornwall 3-93 and Damion Jacobs 2-64 for West Indies A. Kusal Perera topscored for Sri Lanka A with 69. The three-match series is levelled 1-1.
