    Guyana dominated both the male and female table tennis championship to come out as the superior nation at the Inter Guiana Games on Sunday at the National Gymnasium.

    Guyana won both the male and female aspect of the tournament 5-0 in team competition. Priscilla Greaves made table tennis look easy; winning both of her individual matches 3-0.

    Greaves faced Kristel Wijntuin of Suriname in the first match of the female competition and reminded the Guyanese table tennis landscape of her talent with a 11-2,  11-4 and 11-3 to put Suriname on the back foot early.team-guyana

    Sharifa Hooghart was Greaves’ next victim, losing 11-6, 11-5 and 11-2.

    In the doubles bout of the female team competition, Selenas Jackman and Aneka Phillips of Guyana displayed their dominance as well with a 3-0  over Hooghart and Kristel Wijntuin with the sets playing out 11-5, 11-5 and 11-5.

    Jackman also dominated in her individual match winning 3-0 against Janily Tamrin at 11-4, 11-2 and 13-11, while Neveah Clarkston took her only match of the team competition 3-1 over Hooghart at 11-6, 11-6, 7-11 and 11-4.

    Meanwhile in the male competition, Guyana was even more dominant in their 5-0 win with Shemar Britton winning both of his team matches 3-0.

    Britton took down Adesh Jawir 3-0 using his array of shots to overwhelm his Surinamese opponent 11-5, 11-3 and 11-1 while Jared Joogea 11-6, 11-4 and 11-1.

    In the doubles aspect of the team competition, Nicklous Romain and Elishaba Johnson defeated Jared Joogea and Adesh Jawir 3-1 at 11-8, 11-3, 8-11, 11-7 while Johnson overcame Joogea 3-0 at 11-2, 11-4, 11-7 in his single event.

    Romain  was the last to win a single’s match against a tough Kono Abas  3-1 as both players showed variety in shot selection with the set points going as follows in favor of Romain 11-7, 11-3, 10-12, 12-10.

    Presentation of medals happened immediately after the event with Director of Sport Christopher Jones congratulating all of the players.
