The days are swiftly approaching for the final of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC) which will be held at the South Dakota Circuit on November 12 and 13 and though Guyana who are the defending champions may have surrendered their title much is still unknown of who will be crowned the CMRC Super Stock Champion.

Matthew Vieira currently leads the standing with 166 points but four-time champion Stephen Vieira is nestled closely in second with 122 points, while defending Champion Elliot Vieira is in third on 93.

After the first two rounds, Stephen, who donned the nickname “Valentino Rossi,” used his Kawasaki ZX6R to good effect in Jamaica, as well as in Trinidad and Tobago but a series of unfortunate events hampered his progress in the third leg which was held in Barbados where Matthew stole the show which gave him the 44-point lead.

Matthew, who uses a Yamaha R6 has fond memories of the circuit after being crowned the Super Bike Champion last year and is known to be one of the best riders taking the close corners.

For Stephen, finishing ahead of Matthew in the three races should return him to the pole position while Matthew will know that staying ahead will ultimately give him the coveted title but though the competition seems to be one and two, defending champion Elliot could be the proverbial “spoil sport” of the day.

Elliot looked in good form in Jamaica and then Barbados and has already expressed that we will be push his Kawasaki ZX6R to the maximum in order to secure which could see him walking away with the champion driver for the day.

It is understood that team from the United States is expected to attend the races and offer a stern challenge to Caribbean riders.

Meanwhile, President of the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club, Raj Boodhoo says that they are attempting to get the public more aware with the various racers. “We are hoping to do shows of the machines that will be participating and meet and greet with the drivers and public, we have planned various marketing strategies towards bringing the fans closer to what occurs,” Boodhoo disclosed.
The cost for tickets for the international event is $2,000 for Adults and $1,000 for children.
