US Superstock champion Bryce Prince is reporting via his facebook page that he’s looking to break Carlos Rodrigues’ lap record of 33.42 seconds, while Jamaican Doug Gore, behind his wheels of his Audi TT is promising a sensational performance on Sunday.

However, they first have to get past today’s qualifying to see how they will line-up on the grid when the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship comes to a close when the final leg is hosted at the South Dakota Circuit.

The likes of Gore, his compatriot Peter ‘Zoom-Zoom’ Rae, Caribbean Champion Kristian Jeffrey, along with Vishok Persaud, Mohamed ‘Shairaz’ Roshandin and Danny Persaud, are all looking to see who will start Sunday in pole position on the grid.

The Jamaican Gore (136 points) leads fellow countryman Kyle Gregg (43 points) in the Group-4 (4WD), and Trinidadian Kristian Boodosingh is third on 30 points.

Meanwhile, for Rae who competes in the Group 4 Two-Wheel drive category (2WD), coming to Guyana is something he looks forward too.

He (Rae), presently sits third on 108 points behind Barbados’ Mark Maloney (118 points) and group-leader Franklyn Boodhram (144 points) of Trinidad and Tobago.

Kristian, who is the defending group 4 champion, will be surrendering that title this year to Gore. The Guyanese competed in both Jamaica and Trinidad, but failed to pick up points in the two outing, because of mechanical problems.

However, the younger Jeffery said that his aim to ensure that Guyana secure the country championship, which seems highly unlikely.

Trinidad and Tobago amassed 1,151 points; 647 points more than second place Barbados (504 points). Jamaica is third (465 points), Guyana (358 points), Cayman Islands (60 points) and the USA four points.

Meanwhile, the Superstock category will certainly be the day’s eye-candy, when the Caribbean’s best match skills with Bryce Prince and company.

Guyana is more than likely to win the CMRC Motorcycle championship, sitting on-top with 437 points, followed by Trinidad and Tobago in a distant second on 161 points, Jamaica is third (156 points) and Barbados in cellar with 133 points.

Matthew Vieira is on course to claim the Caribbean champion rider title, currently leading the standing with 166 points but four-time champion Stephen Vieira is nestled closely in second with 122 points, while defending Champion Elliot Vieira is in third on 93.

But, with Prince in the mix and already posting good times on the saddle of his Yamaha R6, things will be interesting.
