Jaguars in control after rain-affected day

Eighty-eight minutes were lost to rain, and play was called off 12 minutes before the scheduled close due to bad light, but Guyana Jaguars still had time to snap up nine Leeward Islands Hurricanes wickets on day two at Warner Park.

Resuming on 4-0 in response to Guyana Jaguars’ 293 in round two of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Professional Cricket League Digicel Four-day, Hurricanes stumbled to 157-9 in 76.2 overs by the close.

Only Kieron Powell, who was seventh out at 138, provided any real resistance with a 191-ball 79, which spanned 263 minutes and included five fours and a six.

Jeremiah Louis, on 23 not out, and Nkrumah Bonner with 13 are the only other batsmen in double figures so far.

Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has picked up 3-43 off 17 overs, while Raymon Reifer has 2-22. There was one wicket each for Veerasammy Permaul, Keon Joseph and Christopher Barnwell.

In the other games, Windward Islands Volcanoes were 1-0 at stumps on a rain-affected day two, in response to Jamaica Scorpions 151, while Barbados Pride were enjoying a 94-run lead over Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.
