Public Health Minister investigating Director of Food and Drugs for corrupt allegations

Corruption allegations against the Director of  the Government Analyst -Food and Drug Department will be fully investigated by the Public Health Ministry as ordered by President, David Granger after an importer took to the streets to bring the issue to light.

The Public Health’s Food and Drug Department Director, Marlon Cole has found himself under the microscope following allegations being levelled against him by an importer.

Speaking during a media conference recently, subject Minster, Dr. George Norton has confirmed that his office is aware of the concern of the importer after receiving a formal letter which was also addressed to the Head of State. Dr. Norton confirmed that a meeting will be held with the Food and Drug Director on Monday.

According to Dr. Norton, the head of that agency as far as he is aware is answerable to his Ministry.

A local company, Sueria Manufacturing Inc. CEO, Frank Sanichara during a picketing exercise on Wednesday accused the Food and Drug Department Director of discrimination and corrupt practices. Lab reports in the form of certification of analysis and USDA approved documents are often rejected by the Director says the CEO.

Sanichara told News Room due to the hassle of having some products imported, he is being forced to downsize operation which means letting go of employees over time.
