Team Evolution’s top wheelsman Orville Hinds has one again emerged as the country’s leading rider following the conclusion of the 2016 season. He was easily the best cyclist on show this year, chalking up the most wins.

Hinds of the Mining Town of Linden has been a dominant force in local cycling over the past three years, racking up wins almost at will. In 2016, the Team Evolution rider notched up 11 victories, by far the most by any rider during the season.

He finished with a whopping 198 points, 29 more than second placed Michael Anthony, also a Lindener and a member of Team Evolution.

Anthony managed seven wins, while arguably the most improved cyclist this year, Shaquel Agard of Linden Bauxite Flyers, finished third overall with 160 points, inclusive of three wins.

Raul Leal of Team Evolution, with seven wins and 154 points, ended the season fourth, followed by teammate Marlon Williams fifth on 132 and Team Coco’s Hamzah Eastman sixth on 100 points.

In the junior division, Raphael Leung of WS United continues to make a name in the sport, topping that category with 118 points.

His club mate and Berbician Andrew Hicks took the second spot with 107 points, followed by Christopher Cornelius of Team Evolution on 84 points and Deeraj Garbarran of Team Alanis on 44 points.

Once again, Junior Niles of Team Coco’s was the runaway winner of the Veterans category. The seasoned campaigner literally blew away the competition this year, chalking up 142 points.

Such was Niles’ dominance that second place finisher Jaikaran Sookhai of Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club could only muster 51 points.

Rounding off the top seven finishers were Warren McKay of Roraima Bikers, Stephen Fernandes of Team Evolution, Paul Choo Wee Nam of Team Alanis, Raymond Newton of Roraima Bikers and Ian Jackson of Flying Stars.

The cyclists will be rewarded for their performances in 2016 at an award ceremony, slated for December in Georgetown.
