Opposition Chief Whip, Gail Teixeira, on behalf of the Opposition Leader has raised concerns in the National Assembly over the use of the Parliamentarians’ lounge after a ministerial staff was rude to People’s Progressive Party/Civic Member of Parliament, Harry Gill.

Teixeira sought clarification questioning who gives clearances for these individuals to access the lounge. She told the Speaker of the House, Dr. Barton Scotland that as far as she can recollect, the lounge was for use by the MPs only. However, of recent she has noticed staff members of various agencies entering the lounge.

Only yesterday, the Speaker made it clear that the lounge was for the use of MPs only.

No immediate clarification was given by Dr. Scotland.

Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo had raised a similar concern last Friday.
