Desi Bouterse for Guyana Visit on Friday

President of Suriname Desi Bouterse is tomorrow expected to pay a visit to Guyana.

As it is now, the information has not been officially filtered to the local media. News Room contacted the Government Information Agency today but was informed that the agency is unaware of the visit by Suriname’s leader.

There is no word on what exactly the Surinamese President’s visit is about and who he is expected to meet with.

Two senior government officials were contacted in relation to Bouterse’s visit. One indicated that the information was communicated to them sometime today.

However when contact was made with the other official, we were told that the visit was an official one and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is handling the logistics.

There are rumours within the Upper Corentyne area that the President of Suriname would be meeting with persons in that part of the country.

Today efforts to receive official communication or information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the visit proved futile. Sources told News Room that Bouterse is expected to touch down at the Eugene.F Correia International Airport around 7:30-8:30am tomorrow morning.
