Sparta Boss by virtue of their semi-final win on Tuesday evening at the National Culture Centre Tarmac will have a chance to become the first team to repeat as champions in the Georgetown leg of the Guinness Greatest of the Streets futsal tournament.

The defending champs took down former champions Back Circle 2-1 after a horrific start to the match. Back Circle received a gift of a start with Sparta Boss scoring an own goal in the seventh minute.

The next few minutes were tense with Back Circle going on the offensive on a number of occasions, forcing Sparta Boss into unfamiliar territory by forcing the defending champs to defend a number of consecutive possessions.

While it took some time for Sparta Boss to recompose themselves, the defending champs looked the part with a few plays that came up empty-handed.

However, after the nightmare-like start, Solomon Austin dropped in a solid strike to equalise the game in the 19th minute. A few moments later, a series of great passes allowed Sparta Boss to take the lead and the eventual spot in the final with a strike from Courtney Britton in the 21st minute.

Meanwhile, Tucville caused a major upset with a win a 1-0 win against Broad Street Bullies. Broad Street, who were looking like sure finalists in the knockout stages of the tournament with a fluent style of football, simply could not find their footing in the match after an early goal.

Leon Richardson’s goal in the fifth minute was enough to undo and hold off Broad Street for the win. The much anticipated final will be held on Friday (December 16) at the National Park Tarmac.
