Providence game in the balance as rain intervenes

A total of three hours and 25 minutes were lost to rain on day three of the fifth round game in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Professional Cricket League Digicel Four-day between Guyana Jaguars and Trinidad and Tobago Red Force on Sunday.

The Providence groundstaff were kept busy all day as the rain marred play, limiting the day’s play to only 48.2 overs. Guyana Jaguars, resuming on their overnight position of 357-6, folded for 378 with Shivnarine Chanderpaul adding just two more runs to his 141 at stumps on day two.

His overnight partner Anthony Bramble extended his overnight 18 to 33, but Veerasammy Permaul and Gudakesh Motie fell cheaply, as Imran Khan ended with 4-78 and Khary Pierre 3-50.

Facing a huge deficit of 216, Red Force closed the day on 95-2, still 121 runs away from avoiding an innings defeat with eight wickets in hand.
