General Secretary of the PPP Clement Rohee delivering his speech at the party’s 31st Congress told those gathered that the battle cry must be “no more than one term for the APNU+AFC Government.”

He called on the international community to play a more vigilant role, noting that this is the first Congress since the PPP was cheated out of office and “it will be the last.” Rohee registered a strong call for the party members and even supporters to “not sit on their laurels” instead work “harder and smarter” to get back into the position of power.

The General Secretary boasted that the PPP has always been blind to race and ethnicity and will continue on this path, since it is the party for everyone and the goal is to ensure the development of every Guyanese, given what he described as the ongoing economic, social and political discrimination by the APNU+AFC Coalition Administration.

Meantime, in a short presentation President of the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) Komal Chand said the event is being held at a time when tremendous hardships have been imposed by the current Government.

He reminded of the economic onslaught in the sugar and rice industries and welcomed continued collaboration between GAWU and the PPP.

The 31st Delegates and Observers Congress will provide the opportunity for party members to deliberate on key issues and make decisions regarding the well-being of the Party.

It will conclude on Monday December 18, 2016.
