The Proprietor of Giftland Mall has implemented a fee of $1000 to enter the premises during the holidays in an effort to deter “limers”.

Proprietor, Roy Beepat, told media operatives on Wednesday that the fee will be redeemable at any business within the mall, including the movie theatres. He noted that the decision was arrived at after it was noticed that several persons often times block up the spaces provided for persons that are actually shopping.

The company has also increased its parking facility by 170 car space and already added security measures.

Additionally, on Wednesday the company also provided certificates to persons who have contributed to its charity drive and awarded several Childrens’ Homes across the country with cash incentives as part of the entity’s way of giving back this Christmas.

While the amount given to the homes were not disclosed to the media, it was communicated that the funds were generated by donations given by customers who spent more than $5000.

Among the homes which received the donations were The Brother’s Horizon, Save R’ Kids, Hope, Cornelia Ida, Children of Promise and the Sanctuary Childrens’ Home. The Camal’s Home for battered women and children, St. John Basco Boys Orphanage, Bai- Nivas Shelter and Eripan Project with Iwokrama International also benefited from the donation.
