    Smart City Solutions (SCS) and City Hall on Wednesday officially introduced it Parking Meters which will become fully operational on Monday (January 09, 2017). According to officials, the next two and a half weeks will be used to educate the public on the use of the Parking Meter.whatsapp-image-2016-12-21-at-2-03-37-pm

    whatsapp-image-2016-12-21-at-2-03-36-pm  By January 09, 2017, also, by-laws governing the paid parking in the capital will be published in the Official Gazette and newspapers.

    During a ribbon-cutting exercise on Wednesday morning, Town Clerk, Royston King disclosed that City Constables and ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) will be on patrol to ensure that persons utilise the meters.

    Questions were asked in relation to the fear of vandalism; Managing Director of Business Development, Amir Oren said the meters have alarms built-in that would be triggered upon impact.

    First phase of the project will see 157 meters being whatsapp-image-2016-12-21-at-2-03-35-pminstalled on Main Street, Carmichael Street, Brickdam, Wellington Street, North road, Water Street, and Hadfield Street among others.

    Following the implementation of the project, the Council will receive 20% and the company will receive 80%.
