Tesouro Resources, a mining company over the past week visited a number of Orphanages to share meals with and distribute gifts to the children as part of the company’s commitment to ensure that they are able to enjoy the splendor of Christmas.

Tesouro Resources CEO, Dean Hassan, said that, “Tesouro recognises the struggles that many children face,  be it separation from their parents or lack of the necessary financial resources.” He added that, “I believe that it is our social responsibility to support them not only during the Christmas Season but throughout the year.”

The team from Tesouro was led by Tesouro’s Office Manager Jaswick Williams. At each orphanage Williams led the children in singing Christmas carols and dancing. Williams also took time to teach them the true meaning of Christmas. At every venue the children responded well to the sound words of wisdom and encouragement and were full of joyful smiles for their Christmas gifts.

According to Williams, “Tesouro Resources will in the coming year continue to give to the society despite possible future struggles of the mining industry.”

Savitree Mohase (aged 16), from the St. Ann’s Orphanage, expressed her gratitude saying, “We’re very thankful for what Mr. Hassan is doing. It makes us feel like someone out there cares about us.” Her sentiments were corroborated by the orphanage’s Director, Sister Leonie Da Costa… who commented, “The girls have been brought joy and the Spirit of Christmas.” She added, “It is my hope that the children will remember later in life the blessings they have received here and will in turn give back to society.”

The orphanages visited by Tesouro Resources were the West Ruimveldt Children Home, St. Ann’s Orphanage, St. John’s Bosco Orphanage, Shaeed Boys and Girls School, Joshua House and The Sophia Care Center.

Tesouro Resources has committed to providing support to the orphanages in any way it can and promises to do future visits to help make the children’s lives a bit better.
