All schools across the country with the exception of the South Road Nursery will be reopened on January 09, 2017.

According to the Education Ministry, the opening date for the South Road Nursery school has been shifted to January 16, 2017, due to inclement weather.

There were plans to rebuild the South Road Nursery School, however, answering questions during this year’s budget debate, Minister within the Ministry of Education, Nicolette Henry disclosed that the new building will no longer be pursued.

In a message from acting Chief Education Officer (CEO), Marcel Hutson, he called for cooperation and increased effort in the New Year.

“It is incumbent upon us to believe in ourselves as having the capacity to raise standards and improve our education system…It is, therefore, necessary that as parents, teachers and education officials, we give everything we have got in reaching the social and academic goals required at this time” the acting CEO urged.

The National Grade 6 Assessment scheduled for the 12th and 13th April 2017. As such, teachers were urged to go that extra mile in ensuring that children are adequately prepared for the Assessment and parents to ensure that their children are granted study time.
